History & Beliefs

It was on August 17, 1997 that a group of fifty people from New Hope Christian Fellowship Oahu gathered for a meeting to discuss a God-given dream, a vision for the Windward side of the island. The group of pioneers discussed the idea of starting a weekly midweek service to serve those living in our Windward communities.

On September 11, 1997 a midweek service kicked off at Enchanted Lake Elementary School. In just a few month time relationships grew and with God's blessing New Hope Windward Christian Fellowship began Sunday service at Puohala Elementary School on January 23, 2000.

Shortly thereafter in April 2000, NHW began holding Sunday service at the Ron Bright Theater at Castle High School where we remained for several years and continued to grow.

In August 2005, we moved our services to Regal Cinemas at Windward Mall. With ample parking and space we expanded to three convenient service times. Through God's blessings, we have grown from a church of fifty people to a church family of 900 in weekend attendance. We have been privileged to see over 1,500 people make a decision to begin a relationship with Jesus.

During the summer of 2007, New Hope Windward established two new church locations when it planted New Hope Kailua and New Hope WCCC (Women's Community Correctional Center). Some 200+ New Hope Kailua members meet each Sunday morning at Kailua High School. Weekly service at New Hope WCCC is held on Wednesday evenings at the prison chapel. Over fifty percent (150+) of the inmate population attends service each week. Both locations are experiencing tremendous growth and exceeding all expectations.

We truly believe our best days are ahead of us!

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, without error and the source of truth for Christian living.

We believe in the one true God who eternally exists in three distinct person: Father, God, the Son of God and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that humans were created in the spiritual image of God to have relationship with him, but through voluntary sinful disobedience, we alienated ourselves from God.

We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, shed his blood and gave his life on a cross as a payment for our sin.

We believe a person is forgiven of their sins when they place their trust what Jesus did. This salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God and is not by human effort. Salvation unifies us in eternal relationship with God.

We believe that baptism is an act of obedience that symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.  Baptism is a person's announcement to others that they have placed their trust in Jesus and made him their life leader.
